Six Senior Cadets of Fishburne Military School Earn Full-Tuition Scholarships
Waynesboro, V.A. – In March 2023, Fishburne Military School (FMS) recognized the following senior Cadets who earned full-tuition Army ROTC scholarship offers beginning Fall 2023-2024 academic year. Cadets Nathan Ryan, Aiden Bowman, William Branham, Ryan Legg, Sean Ross, and John Blahut, class of 2023, have received the full-tuition scholarship.
Army ROTC scholarships are competitive, merit-based national scholarships, granted to high-performing high school seniors who have excelled academically, athletically, and as leaders. ROTC scholarship winners have demonstrated an ability to excel as problem solvers and as members of teams committed to a mission bigger than themselves.
Winners of this scholarship receive 100% tuition for either three or four years at one of the hundreds of colleges offering the program. Throughout the ROTC program, cadets receive world-class leadership training to prepare them to serve as Army officers upon college graduation.
Battalion Commander, Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Sean Ross, class of 2023, will be attending Indiana University on a three-year ROTC scholarship with a major in international studies at the Hamilton Lugar School. Ross said, “My journey to earn this scholarship had lots of ups and downs but to be honest, it had more downs than ups. I didn’t know if I was going to be able to receive the scholarship and live out my dream. I knew I had to better myself inside and outside the classroom and as a person in general [to earn it.]”
Many of these Cadets, class of 2023, have accepted the ROTC scholarship and will join the program at their chosen university.
Cadet Captain Ryan Legg, class of 2023, earned the full-tuition scholarship. He plans to attend The Citadel in Charleston, S.C. and will study Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Computer Programming.
Legg said, “To earn this scholarship, it took hard work not only in the academic setting but also required strong mental, physical, and extracurricular activities. During my time at FMS, I am most proud of what the faculty and staff have done for me. Whenever I needed to work through something, there was always someone who was there willing to help me be the best version of myself. Without them, I would not be in the same position as where I am today.”
FMS offers a military career prep program for young men interested in pursuing a military career. The program includes individual counseling, liaison with military recruiters and admissions, mentoring, physical fitness preparation, and application assistance. The school is dedicated to helping young men achieve their goals and preparing them for the careers and lifestyles they are passionate about.
